Trance

So last night I wanted to try something. Two summer's ago I was at the beach under a full moon in the middle of the night with my fiance. He tried to get me to sway into a dance trance to the sound of the crashing waves. I couldn't get into it. I think I experienced last night what he wanted me to that night...

I lit some candles on my altar and a stick of cinnamon so it acted like an incense stick. I have two rattlesnake rattles from my uncle who kills them on his ranch in Montana. I took them in my right hand and started shaking them, letting beats flow. I did some belly dance moves but it was hard while shaking the rattles. Then I turned the lights off and stood in front of my altar, taking one rattle in each hand this time. I closed my eyes and began to sway and the beats flowed from my hands into rhythms made by the rattles. I began to feel like I was floating and swaying, almost weightless. The beats would change and I just let go.

I said what ever came to mind. I remember asking for all negativity to be expelled from my body, my heart, my mind, my soul, my life. That my relationships with my fiance and my parents turn for the better. I asked Snake to swallow me and shed me that I will be born anew and refreshed.

That was my first time that I can remember ever entering a trance like state of mind. It was very calming, and almost addictive. I felt very connected to Snake.
